Apps for sailing races

The best apps to go faster and make the right decisions in racing!

SAILGRIB RS

Free Android

SailGrib RS is designed to improve your race starts. This application includes a race timer, calculates the distance to the starting line, the time remaining before the start, as well as the favored side of the line.

The 'time to burn' indicates the difference between the time remaining until the start and the time required to reach the line if the boat maintains its current speed and direction. A negative time to burn means that the boat is ahead and risks crossing the line before the start. This time is not displayed if the boat is moving away from the line.

The Premium option allows the display of the favored side of the line and the offset from the bow for €0.99 per month, €6.99 per year, or €15.99 permanently.

IREGATTA PRO / IREGATTA 2

PRO : €19.99 iOS / €18.99 Android

2 : iOS (iPad only) = subscription version €12.99/year

iRegatta is the versatile tool for racers, offering a tactical application that presents all the crucial information for the regatta, such as the distance to the starting line, the favored side, the heading, the speed, the direction, and wind shifts, as well as the VMG.

It supports the reception and display of NMEA data transmitted via WiFi to the iPad. The free basic version requires in-app purchases to be fully functional.

The PRO version includes NMEA and AIS processing features and offers additional options like the "Man Overboard" function. iRegatta also generates statistics and creates speed polars.

The 2 version, designed specifically for the iPad, integrates Transas marine mapping. Although the application is primarily in English and may present usability challenges, a manual is available online on the developer's website.

IPOLAR

iPolar calculates performance polars for a sailboat based on specific and easily identifiable parameters: Overall Length (LHT), Waterline Length (defaulting to 95% of the LHT if unknown), Displacement, Mainsail Area, Jib Area, Symmetrical Spinnaker Area (optional) with max TWS, Asymmetrical Spinnaker Area (optional) also with max TWS, and the "Racing" option for a heavier crew and stronger righting moment.

Speed polars are generated automatically after entering the data and can be displayed as charts and tables, then exported directly to Weather4D Routing or iRegatta.

NMEA REMOTE
