Foreflight is a flight planning and navigation tracking app for tablets. Capable of managing VFR and IFR flights with equal efficiency, the app allows users to build a route by simply entering the departure and destination airports and the flight altitude. It provides a very useful vertical profile view to better understand the organization of airspace above the areas being flown over.
It also allows you to save all the latest weather data just before the flight (TAF, METAR, radar, surface winds and altitude, turbulence zones, altitude icing, etc.).
It manages Jeppesen and DFS charts, as well as Eurocontrol. The app also offers an electronic flight log and allows users to upload their own PDFs (electronic flight bag) and easily file their flight plan with Eurocontrol, with email confirmation. Finally, it can manage ADS-B receivers.

Free iOS / Android (in-app purchases)
Air Navigation Pro is a flight assistance application with real-time GPS navigation primarily for VFR pilots. It allows users to plan and track flights, and access a database of airspaces and waypoints worldwide.
The moving map displays aeronautical charts in the background, interactive waypoints, airspaces, and the planned route.
The georeferenced approach charts are designed for maximum visibility. They are also displayed in 3D view, allowing for better consideration of the environment during takeoff and landing.
A global aeronautical database with over 200,000 waypoints and 50,000 airspaces is constantly updated (subscription only).
Several Premium options, features, and maps are available only with a subscription, ranging from €25.99 to €169.99 depending on the choices on iOS, up to €299.99 on Android.
FlyBy E6B offers over 70 functions for calculating speed, heading, altitude, wind speed and direction, course and ground speed, distance and time to destination, climb and descent angles, and dozens of other flight data.
The app also includes load weights. It features a unit conversion table, ephemerides for sunrise and sunset, civil day/night times, and an ETA function that calculates the remaining flight duration during the day.
Free iOS (in-app purchases)
Xavion is a specialized application that continuously simulates engine-out flights to all runways within flight range and then indicates the safest route to an airport in the event of an engine failure. It also checks weight and balance, estimates takeoff distance, and compares it to runway length to alert if the available runway length from the position is insufficient for a safe takeoff.
Additionally, Xavion tracks other aircraft via ADS-B and remembers their positions to display their wake turbulence.
Xavion receives ADS-B weather if a portable receiver is available and displays it, including new icing data, turbulence, and lightning. Xavion also receives METARs and winds aloft from the Internet if connected to a Wi-Fi or cellular signal to assist in flight planning.
Xavion uses the global airport database DAFIF. Subscription options are only for VFR/IFR mapping covering the USA.
Mach7 is a flight preparation and tracking application for pilots of airplanes, ultralights, and helicopters. On the ground, the user plans their flight on the MACH7 website: purchasing maps (trajectory, fuel estimates, weight and balance, flight log, flight profile, weather, Notam, CAV, Sup AIP, database with aircraft, military activity Azba, etc.).
The prepared flight is then downloaded to the iPad for GPS tracking and display of flight data.
Free iOS (with in-app purchases)
The French application Airmate, launched in 2016, offers free access to IFR and VFR maps of 120 countries, an Auto-Route feature, and connection to flight simulators. It assists in the planning and tracking of VFR or IFR flights, displaying the aircraft's position on a scrolling map that allows access to data without requiring an Internet connection. Airmate supports ADS-B devices for tracking surrounding traffic.
The PRO version (€22.99) enables certain advanced features. IGN France maps are available as in-app purchases (€24.99/year)

IVac gives you access to all the French ACC maps (approach and landing charts) and stores them in the memory of your iPhone/iPad. As soon as internet access is available, you can save the latest updated chart of the aerodrome you wish to view on your iPhone or iPad. The data comes from the civil aviation information service and is frequently updated.
Update on 09/11/24: the app seems to no longer be accessible on Android. Alternative (less developed): Morse Expert
In the category of fun applications, Morse it! allows you to generate and translate messages in Morse code.
