Presentation

Despite its compact size, the NOMAD2 from Digital Yacht is a top-quality Class B transponder, equipped with an integrated GPS and WiFi transmitter for sending data to a tablet or smartphone.
The NOMAD2 is a compact, portable device, easy to install and use. It comes complete with a high-performance GV30 VHF/AIS + GPS hybrid antenna and the necessary cables.
Powered by a simple USB plug, it's particularly quick to set up: simply plug in the plug, place the antenna and you're ready to go surrounding boats are detected!
Installation
The Nomad2 can be powered from any USB source (smartphone charger, USB cigarette-lighter charger, computer USB port, external battery, etc.) with very low power consumption (0.6A on 5V, or 0.25A on 12V).
It is supplied with a VHF/AIS + GPS antenna to be attached to a Glomex 1" base (not supplied) and 4m of cable. It is possible to connect another VHF antenna (BNC connector) if already present on the boat.

To use the device to its full potential, it must be configured with your boat's MMSI number. This is done :
- either from a smartphone/tablet, using the web browser to access the Nomad2 interface
- or from a PC or Mac computer, again using the browser, or via the free ProAIS2 utility (download here)
Important: like all AIS transponders, your NOMAD will only transmit your information if you have previously set up your boat's identification data (notably the MMSI), otherwise it will simply act as a receiver. In application of the regulations, it is not possible to modify this number directly. However, it is possible to reset the device remotely if you change boat. Please contact us in this case.
Use
The Nomad2 allows you to view the positions of surrounding vessels equipped with an AIS transmitter from any iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. You will need to install a navigation application capable of reading NMEA data, which will be sent to the tablet via WiFi (e.g. Weather4D 2.0, iNavX, iSailor...). The tablet also retrieves Nomad2 GPS data via WiFi, if required.
It is also possible to use the NOMAD2 with a PC or Mac by connecting it via USB (in this case, the USB port provides both power and data)
