Our selection of navigation apps for hiking, mountain biking, quad biking, 4x4..

IGN RANDO'

Free (in-app purchases) - iOS / Android

IGNrando' is the official app of the IGN for hiking* and outdoor activities. It is a collaborative portal that allows you to find and share thousands of hiking ideas. You can prepare your route on the website ignrando.fr, and transfer it with your points of interest to the app, with live GPS guidance and the ability to record your route.

Some maps are free (including Plan IGN and OpenStreetMap Outdoors).

However, it is preferable to take the IGN Liberté subscription (€16.99/year - free 7-day trial) which includes IGN topographic maps at a scale of 1:25000 and many overlays: for example, from version 1.49 onwards, it is possible to display the map of mobile coverage areas of French operators, a huge advantage for being able to alert emergency services via 112, or more simply to download weather information or call a loved one!

* IGNrando' is also suitable for ski touring thanks to the winter tracks provided by the Petzl Foundation.

TWONAV PREMIUM

5.99€ - iOS / Android

TwoNav Premium is an application developed for all hiking enthusiasts, whether on foot, by bike, or in a 4x4. It offers you the possibility to visualize a very large catalog of topographic maps, vector maps, or satellite images in 2D or 3D.

More than 60 data points can be displayed on the screen, including current speed, average speed, a stopwatch, and maximum altitude.

Once the hike is finished and you are back in your car, the application can serve as a road navigator.

Several maps are available through in-app purchases (IGN Geoportail 17.99€, IGN France 3.99€, etc.).

The first 7 days of use are free, after which it will cost you €14.99 per year for unlimited access to the Geoportal.
