AiShell 12 description
The aiShell 12 is a 100% waterproof and shockproof case from German manufacturer Andres Industries. It is part of a long line of "hardened" protections developed by this manufacturer for all iPad models since 2010.
It consists of 2 rigid half-shells hinged on a stainless steel axle, opening like a book. Simply place the iPad Pro 12.9 in the case, close the latches around the edges and you're done: your tablet is 100% protected! This tried-and-tested system allows repeated opening and closing, without any wear or risk to waterproofing.
On the front, the aiShell 12 incorporates a top-of-the-range protective film that allows the touchscreen to be used to the full, with the same feel as a bare screen: sensitivity and transparency are perfectly preserved. This film not only provides waterproof protection, but also offers additional mechanical protection against moderate shocks. It can be replaced if worn.
Peripheral buttons let you adjust the volume level, and operate the iPad's on/off button without removing it from its protective cover. Four rubber pads on the underside provide a highly effective anti-slip function. In addition, two folding feet enable the tablet to be tilted slightly for improved input comfort.
Peripheral accessory slots accommodate rubber anti-slip pads on the sides - to prevent the tablet from slipping when placed on edge - and a stylus holder (both supplied). Other optional accessories can be fitted, such as a side handle or the useful sun visor.
Charging the aiShell 12
In the lower part of the waterproof shell, an opening is provided for access to the iPad's charging connector. When not in use, this opening is sealed by a captive plug (attached to the shell).
There are 3 charging options:
- In a protected environment, you can use the original Apple cable (not waterproof)
- For connection in damp or dusty environments, we recommend using the manufacturer's waterproof aiShell USB-C cable, for risk-free recharging even in continuous rain.
- Still for use in damp environments, there's another solution that ensures both charging and attachment: theUSB-C powered clamp. This is the ultimate solution, as it allows you to maintain complete freedom of movement with the iPad, while ensuring charging every time the iPad is rested in the clamp!
Securing the aiShell 12
Like its predecessors, the aiShell 12 waterproof case is particularly well thought-out in terms of fastenings!
The main recommended mounting accessory is theaiShell 12 clamp, which lets you attach/remove the iPad in a fraction of a second, and with just one hand. This bracket can be mounted directly on a wall, although it's more advisable to mount it on an articulated arm, so that it can be oriented towards the user. The same can be done with theUSB-C-powered bracket, with the advantage of recharging the iPad at the same time!
In addition, the case features a number of inserts on the rear for screwing on other accessories, such as a round turntable, a rear handle or a shoulder strap.
