Description
The YDWG-02 is a tiny NMEA2000 router available in two versions for Wi-Fi transmission of data from onboard sensors and instruments to mobile devices (tablets, smartphones, computers):
- The YDWG-02N is equipped with a male NMEA2000 Micro C connector
- the YDWG-02R with a female SeaTalkNG connector.
Data from the NMEA2000 network or the Seatalk NG can be displayed in a wide range of NMEA-compatible applications such as Weather4D Routing & Navigation, SailGrib, iNavX, iSailor and others.
A bi-directional Wi-Fi router
The YDWG-02 features a bi-directional converter between NMEA 2000 and NMEA0183 protocols, enabling it to transfer data to NMEA0183-supported applications on mobile devices.
The network's NMEA data can be transmitted over Wi-Fi by three independent, configurable data servers, operating in either transmit, receive or bidirectional mode. Applications can therefore simultaneously receive and send their own data over the NMEA2000 or SeaTalkNG network, such as navigation data for autopilot control.
Integrated Wi-Fi access point
The router creates its own Wi-Fi network(access point mode, by default), with a range of around 30 meters in open space, but it can also be connected to a Wi-Fi network already on board(client mode). For security, the Wi-Fi access point name (SSID) can be modified, as can the connection password.
Simplified configuration
The YDWG-02, like all the brand's other devices, is equipped with an integrated web server, enabling easy configuration and firmware updating from any web browser on a computer or mobile Wi-Fi device.
The simplest way is to use the first server activated by default, choose the transmission protocol (TCP or UDP), and the transmission direction. All that's left to do is connect the device to a network connector (a T or a multiconnector).
Advanced functions
In the configuration interface, filters on each server enable data received in both directions to be accepted or blocked, to avoid loops or redundancies. A setting offers different ways of calculating true wind, if this is not provided by instruments or applications.
Special options are also available for Raymarine pilot control, as well as for specific sensors (engine, weather, etc.) using NMEA "XDR" sentences.
Configurable instrument web pages
The web interface also features four configurable instrument pages, enabling data to be viewed in real time using a web browser on a computer, tablet or smartphone. It also displays the flow of NMEA sentences.
