The Digital Yacht iAISTX is an AIS transponder for recreational boating (Class B) for vessel traffic monitoring and collision avoidance assistance. With a built-in GPS, it transmits the ship's position and data while receiving data from the AIS transmitters of surrounding vessels.
Provided with wifi, it can easily be connected to a smartphone, tablet, or laptop, to display data through a compatible application such as Navionics, Weather4D, SailGrib, iNavX, iSailor, OpenCPN, TimeZero (PC).
The iAISTX uses HF-AIS technology that ensures that all AIS transmissions are decoded without error, assuring the user to see all possible AIS targets and data, even in high traffic areas. The two-channel receiver processes all types of AIS targets in reception: Class B, Class A, AtoN, MOB, beacons, shore bases, etc.
Since AIS operates on VHF frequencies, the unit must be connected either to a dedicated antenna (not supplied) or to your VHF antenna by using an antenna splitter (not supplied). (Note: for use with the Vesper SP-160 splitter, a BNC male / UHF female adapter is required - e.g. Amphenol RF 242134).
For position transmission, the unit is provided with a built-in GPS receiver, and a passive GPS antenna with a 10 m cable is supplied for installation outside the boat. However, on polyester boats it is often possible to leave the antenna inside the boat in the same location as the transponder.
NMEA* GPS position data is also transmitted over Wi-Fi at the same time as AIS data received from surrounding vessels, allowing it to be used in navigation applications on tablets without a GPS receiver (especially when using a Wi-Fi iPad).
* Warning: this product is not a NMEA router and therefore does not relay information from other sensors on the boat via wifi.
Easy setup with its web interface
Like any transponder, the iAISTX requires initial setup to operate in transmit mode. This is facilitated by the web interface embedded in the device, accessible with any device with a web browser, which allows the mandatory data to be entered: name and dimensions of the ship, MMSI number, etc. A detailed user manual is available to assist with this configuration procedure.
This web interface also allows easy configuration of the wifi network (change of name and password, connection to an existing network) and to temporarily switch off the AIS transmission (silent mode).
- HF AIS technology - Silent mode - Secured and password-protected Wi-Fi interface - Support for UDP and TCP protocols - Wi-Fi connection for up to 7 simultaneous devices (UDP) - Built-in Wi-Fi antenna, range up to 20 m. - Dimensions (W x H x D) 200 x 140 x 45mm - Power supply 12/24V. Power 2W.
