Presentation

The NMEA Connect Plus is a small electronic box designed to work with the Calypso Ultrasonic wind vane. With NMEA inputs and outputs and a Bluetooth wireless module, it extends the possibilities of this device even further!

NMEA Connect Plus is available in 3 variants, selected above:

0183+BT: to connect a Calypso Bluetooth windvane and relay the signal as NMEA0183 + Bluetooth
2000+BT: as above, but with the signal relayed as NMEA2000 + Bluetooth
Highend: converts the signal to 0183, 2000 and Bluetooth

All models also feature an integrated wifi server for accessing the settings page from any device with an internet browser, and a USB port for firmware updates.

How it works :

Calypso'sUltrasonic Portable is a fully autonomous wireless wind vane/anemometer, enabling wind information to be easily viewed on a mobile or tablet while sailing. While this system is remarkably simple yet powerful, it is not designed for direct integration with on-board NMEA instrumentation.

That's where NMEA Connect Plus comes in: by converting Bluetooth signals into NMEA information, it enables wind data to be sent to on-board displays or to an autopilot. In this way, the windvane behaves just like a traditional wired windvane, but can still be consulted on a cell phone!

Last but not least, NMEA Connect Plus can also be used as a simple relay to extend the windvane' s Bluetooth range, adding around 20m to it!

Example of use alone:

NMEA Connect Plus acts as a Bluetooth relay + sends wired information to the NMEA network

Another advantage: with NMEA Connect Plus, you can connect 2 Bluetooth devices to the same windvane, which is not possible with the windvane alone.

Example of use with a multiplexer:

If you have a Wifi multiplexer in your installation, you can connect the NMEA Connect Plus to this multiplexer, and thus receive wind data, in Wifi this time, on several mobiles/tablets, while circulating them in the onboard NMEA network.
