The Garmin InReach Messenger creates a satellite link for your smartphone or tablet, allowing you to exchange text messages with your contacts. Using the Iridium constellation, it works anywhere in the world, on land, sea, mountains, and at any latitude, even near the poles.
Thanks to the free Garmin Messenger app, it detects and prioritizes cellular communications when available, so you don't use up your satellite plan unnecessarily.
The Garmin InReach Messenger can also operate completely independently thanks to pre-recorded messages that can be customized via the Messenger app.

GPS and Tracking Functions
The Garmin InReach Messenger doesn't just send text messages, it's also an essential safety companion. Equipped with its own multi-constellation GPS (GPS, Galileo, QZSS, Beidu), it displays your location on its mini LCD screen and allows you to share it with your loved ones via text message (Tracking) or on a web page (MapShare). It can even show you how to retrace your steps (Backtrack feature)!
SOS and weather functions
The Garmin InReach Messenger allows you to send an SOS call to Garmin Response, a 24/7 emergency coordination center. All you have to do is activate the SOS via the dedicated button, without needing to be paired with a smartphone. The built-in screen allows you to receive confirmation that your call has been received and to continue the dialogue with predefined messages if necessary.
It also allows you to request local weather reports (basic, extended, or marine). You can set waypoints via the Messenger app to get the weather at a distant location.

Completely waterproof (IPX7) and robustly built, the Garmin InReach Messenger has a Li-Ion battery that provides a comfortable battery life (28 days with a tracking SMS every 10 minutes). And if necessary, it can even be used as a power bank to recharge your smartphone!
