General presentation
As its name suggests, the Iridium Go Exec is a professional version of theIridium Go (which remains the current benchmark for communications at sea among yachtsmen), designed to provide a degree of continuity with the onshoreworking environment (WhatsApp, 2 phone lines, access to websites, Outlook, direct connection to a PC/Mac etc.).
Like the Go, it remains an adventurer's tool, operating anywhere on the planet, with safety features (waterproof, ruggedized case, battery operation, built-in antenna, integrated GPS, SOS). This differentiates it from Starlink-type solutions, which aim above all to offer maximum throughput at the cost of certain constraints (restricted geographical areas, high power consumption, fixed installation, imposing antenna, etc.).
Compact and nomadic, the Iridium Go Exec can follow you as carry-on luggage to the other end of the planet, boarding any boat or expedition in the most remote locations and providing instant Internet access/backup!
In addition to its use at sea, the Iridium Go Exec is ideal for all professionals needing to continue their activities in difficult terrain, such as NGOs, scientists and explorers, or even teams sent on remote operations!
How it works
Equipped with a SIM card and an ad-hoc subscription, the Iridium Go Exec gives access to theInternet via satellite to any device connected to it locally.
It lets you make calls, exchange Whatsapp messages and e-mails, access websites and download moderate-sized files (such as photos or weather reports).
Note, however, that it is not designed for large downloads or music/video streaming (Netflix, etc.), and while it can be used to access web pages, it cannot be used for surfing in the usual sense of the term, as loading times are fairly long.

Applications optimized for the Go Exec:
- Iridium Go Exec (free - iOS and Android compatible): This is the main app for use with the Go Exec. It lets you manage Go Exec settings and make calls, exchange messages and launch SOS from your mobile.
- Iridium Mail from Pivotel (planned for iOS and Android): recommended for exchanging e-mails without excessive data consumption - not yet available
- XGATE from Pivotel (paid - multi-platform iOS, Android, Windows, Mac): as above

- IP telephony: Whatsapp, Facetime (audio only)

- Browsing: Opera, Firefox
- Financial applications: Venmo, Zelle
- Home automation: Google Home
Beyond this list, most applications will be usable as long as they do not generate data traffic that saturates bandwidth. In particular, all music and video streaming services are excluded. And watch out for data consumption! To this end, Iridium has provided the option of creating usage profiles to authorize only certain applications to use the link when it is active, thanks to the Connection Manager :
