Description of the aiShell 8
The aiShell 8 is a 100% waterproof and shockproof case made by the German manufacturer Andres Industries. It is part of a long line of "hardened" protections developed by this manufacturer for all iPad models since 2010.
It consists of 2 rigid half-shells articulated on a stainless steel axis, opening like a book. Simply place the iPad mini 6 in the case, close the latches on the edges, and you're done: your tablet is 100% protected! This proven system allows for repeated openings and closings, without wear or risk to the waterproofing.
On the front, the aiShell 8 features a high-quality protective film that allows full use of the touchscreen with the same feel as a bare screen: sensitivity and transparency are perfectly preserved. This film not only provides waterproof protection but also additional mechanical protection against moderate impacts. It can be replaced in case of wear.
Buttons on the periphery allow you to adjust the volume and turn the iPad on/off without removing it from its case.
Accessory slots located on the edge allow for the installation of rubber side pads (to prevent the tablet from slipping when it is placed on its side) and/or a stylus holder (included). Other optional accessories can be installed, such as a side handle or the very useful sunshade.
Four rubber feet located on the bottom ensure a very effective non-slip function. Additionally, two foldable feet allow for a slight tilt of the tablet to improve typing comfort.
Charging the aiShell 8
At the bottom of the waterproof case, an opening provides access to the charging connector of the iPad. When not in use, this opening is closed with a cap attached to the case.
In a protected environment, it is possible to use the original cable provided by Apple. For outdoor connections, it is recommended to use the waterproof USB-C cable supplied by the manufacturer, allowing for safe use under continuous rain.
Also for use in humid environments, another solution ensures both charging and fixation: the powered USB-C cradle. This is the ultimate option as it allows for complete freedom of movement with the iPad while ensuring it charges every time the iPad is placed in the cradle!
Mounting the aiShell 8
Like its predecessors, the waterproof aiShell 8 case is particularly well thought out in terms of mounting!
The main recommended mounting accessory is the aiShell mini bracket, which allows you to attach/remove the iPad in a split second and with one hand. This mount can be directly attached to a wall, but it is recommended to mount it on an articulated arm to be able to orient it towards the user.
Additionally, the case has several screw threads on the back to allow for the attachment of other accessories, such as a round base, a rear handle, or a shoulder strap.
To meet the common needs of use on a boat, iTabNav offers "case + mounting" promotional packs that allow for mounting via suction cup or on a handrail or tube (see below).
