(It is recommended to do this with a good WiFi network!)
a / purchase and install iNavX Marine navigation from the Appstore
b / Launch iNavX on the iPad, then tap Preferences>X-Traverse account>Subscribe to www.x-traverse.com.
You are then directed to X-Traverse
Register on X-Traverse and follow the seven steps process :
Step 1> select "Apple iPad"
Step 2> select "iNavX for iPad"
Step 3> subscribe to "X-Traverse Data account" (this is required to receive map updates and access Grib file downloads for 1 year)
Step 4> select the chart corresponding to your navigation zone - e.g. Navionics 43XG for Mediterranean
Continue to step 7 and payment (prices are in U.S. dollars)
At this point, you bought the card, but it is not yet loaded into the memory of the iPad.This is what we will do now:
a / go back to iNavX and enter your X-traverse login email and password in the NMEA TCP/IP settings > Save
b / Go one step back > Tap Add more maps to the menu and select the map you just bought (most often in Gold Marine Charts Current). Put the cursor on I, then save> OK
c / The map now appears in the list. Tap the appropriate name and click on the magnifying glass in the top right of the next window: you see the list of geographical zones that can be downloaded.
d / Select the area you want> the system asks if you want to load only this area or the full map at once. Choose the option you want> the map will start loading
e / You are done, enjoy !
Caution : make sure all necessary navigation areas are loaded before you leave: only folios that appear in bold in the list are actually loaded into memory!
Even if you already own the Navionics application on your iPhone/iPad with a Navionics chart, it is necessary to buy this map again with X-Traverse: they are not compatible.
