The LWT2 tracker is a small beacon that emits its GPS position on the Lora and Sigfox networks. These network technologies are intended for the collection of data sent intermittently by measuring devices to gateways connected to the Internet of Things (IoT). These networks have a low speed but in return they offer a much longer range than traditional wireless networks such as Bluetooth, wifi or GSM: the standard provides a range of 10-15 km in flat terrain. This beacon uses these networks to transmit its GPS position at regular intervals, allowing it to track any movement.
It can therefore be used to track people (children for example), animals or also as an anti-theft device to be alerted in case of displacement of an object (tender, boat, etc.)
The LWT2 tracker is a small, totally autonomous waterproof device that contains a GPS receiver and a small battery that can be charged via a USB cable provided. Its autonomy between two charges reaches 3 to 6 months depending on the selected transmission frequency. It is attached by the small rubber clip provided, but it can also be simply placed in the chart table or glued in a discreet place.
How it works
The LWT2 tracker works with a smartphone equipped with the free Invoxia application (iOS and Android).
The latter allows the tracker to be paired with the smartphone and configured before being "released into the wild". It will be possible to activate/deactivate each tracker, assign it a name, define its transmission frequency (intervals from 2 min to 2h for Lora, 5 or 10min for Sigfox) etc. Note that as long as it does not move, the tracker only sends a signal every 4 hours to save its battery. It only starts transmitting at the desired frequency when moving.
In addition, the LWT2 tracker also transmits its remaining battery percentage, and an alert is automatically generated when it drops below a certain threshold (20%), suggesting that it needs to be recharged. A small LED and a button also allow the battery to be checked on site if necessary.
Once deployed, you can choose to be notified at the slightest movement, or define alerts in case of entry or exit of a given geographical area (geofence). The trackers are displayed on a background map.
As mentioned above, LWT2 can operate on two different networks: Sigfox and Lora, with the subscription included*
In the case of use in metropolitan France only, simply choose "France" as the country when setting up the Invoxia application. The tracker will then run by default on Objenious' Lora network (operated by Bouygues Télécom) which offers the best coverage currently in France and better tracking of fast movements (vehicles).
In the case of use in France and abroad, simply choose another country from the list proposed during the initial configuration of the application. The tracker will then broadcast in Sigfox and will be localized in all the following countries including France (updated list: Belgium - Denmark - France - Germany - Ireland - Italy - Reunion Island - Luxembourg - Mauritius - Mayotte - Netherlands - Portugal - Slovakia - Spain - Sweden - Switzerland.
Note: It is possible to change networks at any time by disconnecting and reconnecting the tracker to the application. Only constraint: this cannot be done remotely for obvious security reasons, the tracker must be in close proximity to the smartphone.
